Safety Interlock
Maximum locking force and compact packaging combined with the industry’s best strength-to-size ratio make this switch ideal for safeguarding machinery and equipment.
Our new HS1T interlock switch provides safety, performance and cost advantages for equipment manufacturers, machinery builders, packaged system designers, robotics implementations and OEMs of all types. The device is suitable for many industries and can serve as the preferred model for many applications.
This interlock switch delivers an industry-leading 5000N of locking force and meets the requirements of ISO 14119:203 for Lock Monitoring where both the status of the position and the locking function of a protective door can be monitored through the lock monitoring contact.
By using this interlock switch fewer on-board contacts are needed to achieve redundant safety circuits and additional monitoring circuits, reducing the amount of wiring on the device. Installers will also appreciate that the HS1T has multiple available cable entry ports, with faster and more reliable wiring connections made possible by spring clamp terminals. These connections offer excellent vibration resistance, prevent wires from loosening and never need tightening.
The HS6B is the smallest three-contact enabling switch currently on the market, and will fit in even the tightest areas, so you have safety in every necessary location. The design allows the highest level of safety by having 3 total contacts, dual load contacts plus a monitoring contact (as per ISO13849-1, EN954-1). Two key entrances provide flexibility for installation options.
CATALOGThe HS6E series safety interlock switch provides a cost effective solenoid door interlock in a compact housing. A total of 4 circuit configurations for both spring and solenoid lock types can be found with standard 3 meter cable. Along with flexible mounting directions you can have up to 4 actuation entry points and 5 different actuator keys, the HS6E can be used to meet any of your simplest safety applications.
Spring Lock Type
Automatically locks the actuator without power to the solenoid. Unlocking is accomplished by energizing the solenoid, providing a high level of safety. Manual unlocking is possible in the event of power failure or maintenance.
Solenoid Lock Type
The actuator is locked only when actuator is in place and is solenoid energized. The actuator is unlocked when de-energized.
Most safety interlocks in the market usually have up to 6 contacts which is more than required in many applications. The revised EN ISO 14119 standard requires two interlock devices to achieve PLe when using a Type 2 interlock device. For one of the two interlock devices, 2 contacts are sufficient. The HS5L is designed to with 2 or 4 contacts, and as a result, the overall size is reduced for more flexibility in installation.
CATALOGThe smallest in their class at just 30 x 30 x 91 (mm), IDEC now offers compact HS5D Interlock Safety Switches available with up to three contacts. These switches provide a high-quality, space-saving product at a competitive price.
HS5D safety switches are the first in their class to allow you to monitor if the head is separated from the body. Some interlock switches on the market have configurable heads, but none except the HS5D have a contact that allows easy identification of detachment of head, providing an extra safety measure.
HS5D Switches are available with metal or plastic heads. The metal head can prevent damage and can also be rotated eight different ways based on actuator entry, providing mounting flexibility for each unique situation.
The HS5E series safety interlock switch provides a cost effective solenoid door interlock in a compact housing. A total of 8 circuit configurations for both spring and solenoid lock types can be found with standard 3 meter cable. Along with a highly versatile metal head that rotates to allow 8 different actuation entry points and 6 different actuator keys, the HS5E can be used to meet any of your safety applications.

HS1L series has increased locking strength of 3,000N and offer six contacts with easy-to-wire termination. HS1L is designed to work in applications with large machines that have heavy doors or gates and all models are equipped with a manual lock-release key and an LED indicator. The indicator is wired independently, for added flexibility and use. Screw terminals are also easy to wire. No barriers on the sides of the contact terminal enable wiring from the side making it easier for crimp-terminal connections as well.
CATALOGThe HS1B is a full-size interlock switch in a more rugged, industrial die-cast aluminum housing. Options include an LED indicator in red or green, and two different circuit configurations. The HS2B comes with an optional LED indicator, in red or green, and has the same direct opening action as all IDEC interlock switches. This full-size interlock switch has a lightweight plastic housing, three conduit ports and two key entry slots.
CATALOGThe HS1C is a full size interlock switch in a rugged die-cast aluminum housing that also includes a locking solenoid. When mounting the key on a movable door, and the switch on a machine body, the door can be mechanically locked when closed. The door is unlocked by a solenoid lock-release signal from a PLC or other source after the machine has stopped. In the even of power failure or for machine maintenance, the door can be unlocked using a special tool.
CATALOGHS3A Non-contact RFID safety interlock switches perform the same functions as standard mechanical safety interlock switches, but are designed to be used in applications where non contact is desired between the switch and its actuating key. It's designed for used in areas where a high level of tamper resistance and safety is required. It is suitable for almost anywhere where safety and reliability is the utmost concern.
CATALOGHS7A-DMC Non-contact magnetic safety interlock switches perform the same functions as standard mechanical safety interlock switches, but are designed to be used in applications where non contact is desired between the switch and its actuating key. It's also being used where space is at a premium. It's also very light weight - only 3.6 oz. HS7A-DMP Non-contact magnetic safety interlock switches perform the same functions as standard mechanical safety interlock switches, but are designed to be used in applications where non contact is desired between the switch and its actuating key. It's also being used where space is at a premium. The slim profile makes it easy to mount in locations out of the way of personnel and machine operation, reducing the possibility of damage or misalignment.
